And so it begins...

Kanashimi is a new independent film going into production in the fall of 2012.  Currently, we're refining the screenplay, scouting locations, and casting.

The word "kanashimi" means "sorrow" or "grief" in Japanese.  Perhaps best described as a "domestic horror film", Kanashimi follows the disintegration of a family, and the psychological unraveling of a father, in the wake of unbearable tragedy.  The horrors are all-too real, and touch upon fears most of us can understand.

Dramatically ambitious, Kanashimi is targeted to run about 40 minutes when complete - a compact, potent, unforgettable emotional ride for the audience.  While not a "message film", it has plenty to say, with a narrative focus designed to bring the protagonist - and the viewer - to the very edge; to a climax where lives are altered forever.

This blog will record the process of making what we hope will be an extraordinary movie.
